About
They say that the devil's in the details....so I try to stay away from them. It's not as easy as Avery, Diebenkorn, and Kahn make it look. My rule number one is make it interesting, altering what I see to make the image feel more real that what the eye sees. Every painting is a puzzle to solve, adding and taking away line, color, value, shape.
I started seriously painting 20 years ago after a career as a clothing designer and manufacturer of Canvasbacks, an artful women's wear line sold nationally. Paying attention to what looks good: that's what I did then and it is still what I love to do now as an artist.
During the winter months, I'm in Naples Florida at my studio in the Art District, 5880 Shirley St. #203. In the summer, you'll find me at my studio in Green Lake, Wisconsin or participating in art events with the Cedarburg Artists Guild near Milwaukee.
